SETSS – Special Education Teacher Support Service
SETSS teachers provide support for children with IEPs, assisting them with meeting their individualized goals. The support provided for each child may included academic, behavioral, and/or social support that is related to the classroom environment. The SETSS teacher collaborates with the classroom teacher in providing your child with the help they need to succeed in the classroom.
The SETSS teacher modifies lessons in the areas of literacy and math to meet a child’s needs. An example of a literacy strategy is a personalized word wall, where students can reference sight words to assist in their writing process. These personalized word walls also may have names of places, people, games, etc. that a child may not know how to spell. Referencing the word wall allows students to focus on the content of their writing rather than focusing solely on spelling.
