This month in Tribes we are learning about respecting our similarities and differences. We read the book, A Bad Case of Stripes by David Shannon and discussed how the main character, Camilia learned to show her “true colors” by being herself and not hiding the fact that she liked to eat lima beans. We sometimes are afraid to show who we truly are because we may be laughed at. We learned that it is important to appreciate each other’s differences and not be afraid to stand out. We are continuing to build our classroom communities through promoting respect and creating a safe environment for all students to express themselves.
