NEA’s(National Education Association) Read Across America Day is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on March 2—Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens, and books. At TAOTS we celebrated Dr. Seuss‘s legacy and reminded our students about the importance of reading by revisiting and sharing some of our favorite Dr. Seuss books. We engaged our students in rich literary discussions and activities that reinforced Dr. Seuss‘s message, “The Love of Reading.” In addition, we had our awesome parent read-aloud volunteers visit classrooms to help us honor such a talented author, who left such a rich legacy behind. What makes a Dr. Seuss birthday event even more fun?- Celebrating in pajamas of course!
