UPDATE on NYCDOE Video Conferencing-FACE TO FACE LIVE

Dearest TAOTS Families,

Hope this message finds everyone well.

This email applies ONLY for TAOTS students that have been engaging in “FACE TO FACE” video conferencing through Zoom or Google Meets/Hangouts with Teachers/Paras and/or Service Providers.

This weekend, all principals were notified by the NYC Department of Education that schools are not permitted to use Zoom OR Google Meets/Hangouts for VIDEO CONFERENCING any longer.  Due to security infringements, the only platform that is currently approved by the Department of Education for Video Conferencing is MICROSOFT TEAMS.

I realize that this may be very inconvenient for many students and families that have successfully been using Zoom and/or Google Meets/Hangouts with students.

TOMORROW, MONDAY, APRIL 6TH,  WILL BE THE LAST DAY THAT TEACHERS/PARAS AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL BE USING ZOOM OR GOOGLE MEETS/HANGOUTS FOR FACE TO FACE VIDEO CONFERENCING.

Effective Tuesday, April 7th, ALL Remote Learning will continue through Google Classrooms as we have been.

We will be utilizing the days to come to transition into Microsoft Teams. Our teachers and the school community will help to guide families and communicate our next steps shortly.

I apologize for any inconvenience that this NYCDOE mandated change will cause.

Thank you for your patience as we navigate this new landscape together.
