No Place for Hate: Why diverse books are important
As part of our No Place for Hate initiative, TAOTS students have been talking about diversity of the people represented in their classroom libraries. Ms. Tavormina, and Ms. Butsikares sat down with students from class 4-226 and Ms. Oppedisano to discuss some books that feature a diverse range of characters, and how different students have connected with them as either ‘mirrors’ of their own experiences, or ‘windows’ into the experiences of those from other backgrounds.

This schoolwide initiative was inspired by the Anti-Defamation League lesson: #WeNeedDiverseBooks: Shining a Light on the Lack of Diversity
