Mission of Tribes

The mission of Tribes is: “To assure the healthy and whole development of every child so that each has the knowledge, skills, and resiliency to be successful in a rapidly changing world.

A Tribes School

A Tribes School is a Learning Community where teachers, administrators, students and parents all enjoy the mutual respect and caring essential for growth and learning.  The goal for a Tribes school is for all those involved in the child’s education to work together as a learning community that is dedicated to caring and support, active participation, and positive expectations for all students.

Reflections

Asks the learner to reflect on what was just learned through reflection questions: Content/thinking Questions, Collaborative/Social Questions or Personal Learning Questions.  Reflections questions can double retention of facts and concepts learned.  The repeated practice of reflecting on group and community interaction helps people to become aware of the impact of their behavior on others and the dynamics of the groups. Reflection is emphasized in Tribes because it is essential for learning and development.

TRIBES Learning Communities & Agreements

Our school follows a community building program called Tribes.  The Tribes philosophy is a positive one.  It is designed to support schools in creating secure and risk free learning environment that focuses on the “whole child” and his/her individual academic, social, and emotional needs.  Students and families are asked to adhere to the following Tribes Agreements:
